The annual Massachusetts STEM Summit promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education and workforce development from early childhood through adulthood. Now in its 13th year, the Summit convenes the state’s educators, business leaders, policymakers, parents, students, and others to share strategies, initiatives, collaborations, and ideas.

The theme of this year’s Summit is “Building a Lifetime of Opportunity”. The stimulation and nurturing of curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM can begin in the earliest years of life, and then be built upon and sustained over the course of a lifetime. Opportunities for this development abound in formal and informal education settings at all ages and levels, through the pursuit of personal interests, through educational and career choices, and in workplace activities. Our theme similarly refers to the wide variety of workforce and economic opportunities that arise not only from, but for, a strong STEM-inspired population. The discussion of these opportunities and sharing of successful programs and activities through presentations, exhibits, and networking will be the foundation of this year’s Summit. Attendees should bring their expertise and, just as importantly, their curiosity about STEM to Worcester in November.

Proposals for Breakout Sessions and Resource Exhibits may address any of the Summit’s topical strands:

  • Early Education
  • K-12
  • Higher Education
  • Workforce and Business

Guidelines for the preparation and submission of proposals, as well as the proposal form, can be downloaded from the Summit website.

Proposals received in response to the Call will be reviewed by the relevant Strand review committees, which will select the sessions and exhibits to be included as part of the 2016 Summit program. Strand review committees consist of volunteers from the Commonwealth’s greater STEM community. A recruitment announcement for 2016 volunteers will be made in the coming weeks; instructions for volunteering will be forthcoming in a future email, and will also be posted on the Summit website.

The deadline for submission of proposals is April 29, 2016.

Results of the review process are expected to be announced no later than July 15, 2016.

Massachusetts STEM Summit 2016 will be held at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
