Two days before the first education sessions at InfoComm 2018 kicked off, we learned that Kramer Electronics veteran Clint Hoffman had been promoted to Kramer USA CEO. “I love this industry. It’s in my blood,” said Hoffman in a video interview with Commercial Integrator not long after he learned of his promotion.

Hoffman, who had served as chief operator officer and chief growth officer for Kramer USA, didn’t have a lot of time before fielding questions at InfoComm 2018 about what he intends to accomplish in his new position. When he sat down with CI for a video interview (above), however, he was ready.

Hoffman is looking at feedback from a recent dealer survey to help create a roadmap. “We went out of our customers and got some specific feedback on what we need to improve,” he said.

The answers pointed him in two directions:

Building Confidence in Kramer Products

Surveyed dealers expressed that they need more assurance that the AV products that they install will be reliable. “We’re going to work on the messaging behind that, because [Kramer products] are,” Hoffman said. “It’s just a matter of giving them the facts behind that.”

Increasing Kramer USA Sales Presence

The more quantifiable change that Clint Hoffman said will take place at Kramer USA is an aggressive ramp up of its sales presence and interaction with systems integrators.

Based on the survey, “integrators said we need to see your people more often,” he said.

Hoffman acknowledges that Kramer USA had previously left portions of the country uncovered. “Shame on us,” he said. “We’re going to have complete coverage and we’re going to double it.”

Part of the plan, which he details in the video interview above, is creating a three-person Kramer USA support team for integration firms that includes a regional sales manager, customer service representative  and field sales manager.
