Forbes’s Five Technologies to Integrate into Businesses

Forbes compiled a list of 5 new technologies that companies should start to consider integrating into businesses.

Forbes is among the most trusted resources for the world’s business and investment leaders. The publication provides information to business professionals to help them succeed at work, profit from investing, and analysis of business, technology, investing and lifestyle.

As Forbes is in contact with some of the leading businesses in the world, and the decisions makers within those businesses, they have a unique perspective on what these leaders are looking into for their businesses moving forward. They’ve compiled a list of five technology trends that businesses are beginning to adapt, and we’d like to add our own input.

Augmented Reality

According to Forbes, the introduction of Microsoft‘s HoloLens has legitimized augmented reality as a technology for businesses. Enterprises can use AR devices to show designs, collaborate remotely and see and learn new things in relation to the real world. AR devices will allow users to work with three-dimensional data.

I was able to test out the Oculus Rift in 2014, and spoke about the topic of virtual reality in the workplace in a recent AVNation podcast. While AR offers unique design capabilities for animators, architects, and the like, I don’t see the technology being largely adopted in corporate spaces anytime soon. Unless you have those specific needs, general AR for videoconferencing or collaboration, in the manner that AR exists now, seems to encumber more than enhance experiences. AR headsets cut you off from the physical world, making them individual devices. For the potential price points and limitations of the technology to date, a videoconferencing suite or collaboration system allows for a more fluid experience and a more flexible system, which is what you’re looking for in corporate communications.

Wireless Conference Rooms

Forbes mentions that any respectable company will have multiple meeting spaces to bring teams together to discuss strategy and progress. Today’s meeting rooms should follow Internet connectivity into the wireless era. It offers Kramer‘s VIA line of collaboration solutions as an example of the type of technologies that are allowing businesses to wirelessly connect in conference rooms.

This is a no brainer. Most companies are already incorporating such solutions, and many have had them for years. BYOD is one of the biggest trends in the industry, especially so with the emergence of the huddle space and open offices that are becoming customary for new offices. Not only does wireless presentation project an air of forward-thinking, but it allows employees to work more easily and dynamically. I wouldn’t even classify this as a new technology necessarily. This shouldn’t be a surprise to any of our readers or most of Forbes’s.
