Cloud-based software provider Zoho Corp. is releasing a new unified communications platform it calls Trident, along with improved collaboration technologies across the Zoho Workplace suite designed to help businesses communicate across channels and improve digital adoption.
According to the Austin, Texas-based IT provider, Zoho Trident is a new collaboration, productivity and communication experience platform that includes mail, messages, audio/video calls, calendar, tasks and other tools, all in one unified platform.
The company says Trident is also the company’s first native desktop app for email and chat, representing a move away from individual product experiences designed to give users one unified platform for all business communications.
In addition to Zoho Trident, the company says the Zoho Voice platform is now a full phone system integrated directly within collaboration and conferencing apps Zoho Cliq and Zoho Meeting. This integration is designed to give employees the ability to make direct line calls and send SMS messages as well as pick up inbound calls across the apps.
Within the Zoho Meeting app is now Zoho Webinar, a new tool for businesses to broadcast themselves to attendees that features polling, Q&As, virtual file sharing without sharing a screen and other capabilities.
Also being released is BluePencil, a new AI-based grammar tool that features writing suggestions and a text editor that can be used on any third-party webpage.
Other new tools include a new universal drag-and-drop feature that allows user to can drag files across multiple Workplace products, as well as new mobile device management capabilities and OTP-restricted emails in Workplace.
Lastly, the company is adding TrueSync to Zoho WorkDive to help reduce hard drive storage issues by creating a mirror of all WorkDrive files and folders on the desktop so users can switch between cloud and computer storage.
Zoho chief evangelist Raju Vegesna says adoption of Zoho Workplace has accelerated in the past year as organizations look to align their productivity tools to their distributed work models. The company says Workplace has grown 30% year-over-year, and now has more than 16 million users.
In addition, the company claims migrations from Google, Microsoft and GoDaddy to Zoho Workplace nearly doubled in 2022.
