In this episode, we talk to Danielle Parks, a research analyst at Nucleus Research, about why organizations should take a risk-based approach to cybersecurity to maximize their ROI on cybersecurity spending.
Thanks to some high-profile nation-state cyberattacks and massive ransomware operations, there is now a renewed focus on cybersecurity with the U.S. government leading the charge to enhance the security of public and private networks.
Nobody is debating about the importance of spending money on cybersecurity, but you don’t have to go broke doing so.
Instead, Parks says organizations should look for overlap vs. layers, evaluate cyber risks and look at cybersecurity as an insurance market.
Organizations should ask themselves:
- Who are the possible threat actors targeting us?
- How could they possibly get into our network?
- What have those actors and others like it done to similar organizations?
- Where are our weak points?
