Day and Night Surveillance

Unwanted visitors can be lurking around school grounds at anytime. If you’re looking to monitor school grounds 24/7, you may want to look into installing a CCTV camera that provides clear images and video during the day and night. JVC’s VN-H37U camera pictured above allows for nighttime monitoring as it ensures superior color reproduction even in extremely low light.

Real-time Streaming

Watching live action helps quicken response time when a criminal act occurs. If you don’t want streaming to be delayed, you’ll want to look into purchasing a camera that allows for real-time streaming. Pictured here is Bosch’s AutoDome Junior HD Fixed Camera which features quad video streaming that generates simultaneous H.264, M-JPEG, and JPEG video streams.

Motion Detection

If you are looking for a camera that allows for immediate response, you’ll want to purchase a camera with motion detection. A surveillance camera featuring a motion detector can help quicken response time and reduce the time an intruder is in a school. Samsung’s SNF-8010 fish eye camera pictured above can trigger an alarm through motion detection, audio detection, tampering detection, alarm input, and network disconnection.

High Resolution

If you’re looking to identify intruders and unwanted visitors with ease, you may want to purchase a surveillance camera that can produce high resolution videos and images. Sony’s Network 1080p/60fps Full HD Outdoor Dual-Light Bullet Camera Powered by IPELA ENGINE EX is pictured above. It creates a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with its Exmor CMOS sensor. It also includes XDNR (eXcellent Dynamic Noise Reduction) technology for clear images with virtually no motion blur under low lighting.

Durability

Outdoor CCTV cameras allow schools to monitor possible intruders or unwanted visitors before they enter the school building. If you are looking to install an outdoor camera, you’ll want to look for a camera that will be able to withstand harsh weather and other challenging environments. The Honeywell HD4DIRSX camera’s ultra-rugged die-cast aluminium housing and scratch-resistant 3.5 mm-thick polycarbonate dome cover can withstand heavy external impacts, making it an ideal choice for schools to protect against weather and vandalism.

Maintaining the safety and security of students in any learning environment is essential, especially in a K-12 school district. With students as young as four years old walking the halls of K-12 schools, it is vital that school buildings and campuses have the appropriate technology installed to keep students safe.

There are many products and technologies that make up a school’s security system. One of the most valuable of these technologies is a surveillance camera. Video surveillance can help schools manage visitors, prevent school property from being vandalized or stolen, identify intruders and more. However, it is important to understand that a surveillance camera is more than just a recording device.

Many surveillance cameras include features beyond recording that are vital to maintaining the safety and security of students and faculty. Before purchasing a surveillance camera, schools need to understand their camera’s capabilities to ensure that it will be a beneficial tool for its safety plan.

The main goal of a surveillance camera is to allow schools to monitor, record and most importantly have a sense of control over who and what is on campus. There are many types of cameras available, and it is important to know which features matter most to a K-12 school.
