City of Baltimore Hit with Ransomware Attack
Return To ArticleBaltimore was hit by a ransomware attack Tuesday, and officials have shut down most of the city’s servers, Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young said.
Young said essential functions – police, fire, EMS, and 311 services – were still operational and employees were working to determine the source of the cyberattack.
The attack marks the second time in just over a year that the city has been targeted with malicious software, according to The Baltimore Sun. A ransomware attack affected the city’s 911 system last fall.
