Hacker Hacks Security System to Lecture About Cybersecurity

Hearing a stranger’s voice in your home can be startling. Now imagine it’s coming from your surveillance camera. An Arizona man had an extensive conversation with someone hacked into his Nest video camera.

The hacker said he was a part of the internet hacking group “anonymous.”

He called himself a “white hat hacker,” meaning he didn’t hack him for malicious reasons.

He said he hacked the man to draw attention to the man’s lack of cyber security.

The hackers main point was that the owner shouldn’t use the same password for multiple accounts. He was able to read that password to him and show how many accounts he was using it on. He also encouraged the man to use two-factor authentication. That adds an extra layer of security to accounts by sending a one-time code to a users phone once a password is entered.
