Cyber Attack Hits 1,200 U.S. Hotels
InterContinental Hotels Group Plc had 1,200 of its hotels in the United States hacked throughout a three-month period.
Hotels, including Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, were victims of the attack that stole customer payment card data.
The attacks occurred from September 29 through December 29. The malware searched for track data on magnetic strips, including name, card number, expiration date, and internal verification code.
InterContinental has not released the amount of cards compromised, or whether the losses were covered by insurance.
