Petya Ransomware Spreads Worldwide
A new large scale ransomware attack is spreading, shutting down computers across Russia, Ukraine, Spain, France, UK, India, and Europe.
The new Petya ransomware, known as Petwrap, is using the same vulnerability as WannaCry did, and has infected 300,000 systems and servers worldwide in just 72 hours. The ransomware asks for $300 in bitcoin.
Petya reboots victims computers and encrypts the hard drive’s master file table and renders the master boot record inoperable, restricting access to the system.
