Denmark Accuses Russia of Hacking Defense Ministry

Though the Kremlin has denied the accusation, the Danish government accuses key elements of the Russian government of hacking its Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry in 2015 and 2016.

The Danish government believes the attack was carried out by APT 28, which is a group that has been accused of working for the Russian Government often in the past.

The report did not name Russia, but Defense Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen blamed Moscow.

The hackers gained access to login information, but did not obtain anything classified. Whle the attack failed, some email accounts of the Defense Ministry had been copied. Those worked could be subject to blackmail.
