According to Petrella, cybersecurity training needs to focus on creating cybersecurity experts that can implement new processes and technologies in a way that makes organizations more secure going forward.
Regardless of size or vertical market, every organization is at risk for a cyber attack, but current cybersecurity training — coupled with a lagging cybersecurity workforce — is making protecting those organizations much harder.
“I think that the state of cybersecurity training is really contingent on how do we have a properly trained, competent and skilled workforce, who can do all the things we need them to do,” Petrella says “And also do that in light of the fact that while all of this is happening, we still have half a million jobs that are open in the cyber talent space that have gone unfilled in the last year.”
