With online learning becoming an integral part of the K-12 educational experience, the ability for teachers to create online content for their classrooms is pivotal in maintaining students’ engagement. Versal, an interactive online course creation and publishing company, recognizes this importance and looks to empower teachers even further with the launch of their new teacher-powered Gadget Market.
Launched on Wednesday, August 5th, the new Versal Gadget Market allows teachers to not only create online content, but also share and discover content within Versal, saving them time and enabling them to find the best courses for their classrooms.
Versal gadgets are the “building blocks” that allow teachers to create new content, build interactive exercises and import existing material into the Versal course publishing canvas. Basic gadgets include text, videos and images, but teachers can also use configurable gadgets to customize interactive exercises such as timelines, flashcards and diagrams.

“Teachers were bystanders at one point. They had no influence over the content, which is what teachers want to be able to do. They love the fact that they can actually curate their own content, bring in their own knowledge, make things more culturally relevant and really have the online experience reflect what they are doing in the classroom,” says Gregor Freund, CEO of Versal. “When you have this kind of capability, it is so much easier to engage your students than if you are standing in front of a whiteboard.”
With the ability to discover pre-configured teacher-created content, along with the 1,000 pre-configured interactive gadgets created by top education experts and publishers, teachers can choose the best courses for their students without spending an immense amount of time having to create content.
