Seattle comes in a number nine on CompTIA’s Tech Town Index, there’s plenty of room to grow. While downtown Seattle might be at full capacity, there is room for companies to expand on the city’s Eastside. Microsoft is adding 17 buildings and 8,000 employees to headquarters in Redmond and Amazon is planning to add 25,000 workers in Bellevue.

In the past 12 months the area advertised for more than 91,000 open technology positions. Additionally, tech jobs are expected to grow by 2.5% in the next year and by 8.7% by 2026. The median home price range sits in in at about $750,000– CompTIA’s data shows that Seattle area employers take that into account.

The median salary for an IT pro is $131,392. When adjusted for cost of living, Seattle ranks no. 1 for compensation, according to CompTIA.
