Microsoft has announced new and enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities across Dynamics 365 applications and a new solution designed to help project-oriented organizations transform.
Wednesday’s announcement previews part of more than 400 new and updated features in the first wave of releases this year, include updates to Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, manual and predictive forecasting capabilities for Dynamics 365 Sales and Sales Insights, expanded AI capabilities for back office finance applications and a new collaboration app.
The new and updated features and capabilities join hundreds of others scheduled to hit Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform between April and September.

Updates to Customer Insights include new first- and third-party data connections to improve customer profiles that can be updated and activated in real-time and deeper insights via Azure Synapse Analytics.
Customers can also integrate the company’s enterprise survey solution Forms Pro to allow organizations to act on insights based on those surveys.
“All of this comes together to create a holistic, 360-degree view of a customer and to update those customer profiles and activities in real-time enabling organizations to know their customers and improve engagement,” Microsoft said in a blog post.
Customer Insights is also being expanded to government cloud computing environments to improve citizen experiences.
Updates to 365 Sales and Sales Insights include new manual and predictive forecasting abilities to give enterprises a better understanding of the sales pipeline, predict results with more accuracy and predict future performance.
According to the company’s blog, Dynamics 365 extracts patterns from customer relationship management data like current and past leads, won or lost accounts, contacts, customer emails and calls and other sources and then projecting those patterns into the future.
“Best of all, anyone can access the insights, no data scientists or tech experts needed (a big change from some other forecasting systems),” Microsoft said.
In May, Microsoft will begin previewing Dynamics 365 Finance Insights, a new back office and finance department application that automates menial tasks.
“Leveraging the power of AI, Finance Insights enables you to not only quickly understand and act on your company’s cash position, but also to take proactive action to improve it,” the company said in the blog.
A new project collaboration app, Dynamics 365 Project Operations, will be generally available in October. Microsoft says it connects cross-functional project teams, “providing the visibility, collaboration, and insight needed to drive the success of project-centric organizations.”
