Extinct: Tape Recorder

A tape recorder is a device used in meetings and during interviews. It records the audio around it in order to play it back later on. Journalists like myself still use tape recorders to this day, though the name is colloquial at this point. In reality, digital recorders that store audio as data files have completely taken over. Originally a tape recorder would store the audio data onto a cassette, the same device that many employees of yesterday used to make mix tapes for crushes in grade school.
